贤达，多所降致，卒不能屈宪。郭林宗少游汝南，先过袁阆，不宿而退，进往从
宪，累日方还。或以问林宗。林宗曰：“奉高之器，譬诸氿滥，虽清而易挹。
叔度汪汪若千顷陂，澄之不清，淆之不浊，不可量也。”
宪初举孝廉，又辟公府，友人劝其仕，宪亦不拒之，暂到京师而还，竟无所
就。年四十八终，天下号曰“征君”。
论曰：“黄宪言论风旨，无所传闻，然士君子见之者，靡不服深远，去玼吝。
将以道周性全，无德而称乎？余曾祖穆侯以为宪颓然其处顺，渊乎其似道，浅深
莫臻其分，清浊未议其方。若及门于孔氏，其殆庶乎！故尝著论云。
