After China joined WTO and opened up our financial industry, intermediary business was the first put under pressure by foreign banks. Western commercial banks have always emphasized the development of intermediary business, especially after breaking the limitation of separate-operation management and starting mixed-operation management. After long-term development, western commercial banks have gained a lot of mature experiences in intermediary business. Relatively speaking, our commercial banks have long focused on traditional debt business and overlooked intermediary business, whose development is lagging far behind comparing with western countries and is still in its infancy stage. With such background, this thesis lays out its arguments, analyzing in depth current intermediary business development of our commercial banks and aiming to propose strategies which are beneficial to the intermediary business development of our commercial banks.
