linux网络的配置问题

因为一些原因，需要修改计算机的mac地址，
我的系统是centos，先是在图形界面里修改了相应的mac，
此时在/etc/syscofig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0里面的mac地址和修改的一致，
但是此时没法启动network，会提示mac地址和期望的不一致，
用ifconfig eth0看到的显卡地址也和修改的不一致，
然后用ifconfig eth0 hw enther ******修改了mac地址，
然后service network start启动成功，
用ifconfig eth0查到的mac地址也和修改的一致，
但是使用 ifconfig /a却提示:
error fetching interface information:device not found.
不知道是什么原因了，
求各位帮忙！

虚拟机装得？

vim /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
修改 MACADDRESS

vim /etc/udev/rules.d/xx_persistent-net.rules
xx为数字，根据自己需要修改,或者删除掉该文件所有内容

重启系统追问

不是虚拟机，
直接在机器上装的。
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0中的已经改过了，

后面这个/etc/udev/rules.d/xx_persistent-net.rules
是干什么的，
可以说下吗？？
