这里为什么要用was 而不能用were??

因为John 后面跟的是with，所以此处只要看John四单数还是复数。
如果将with改为and,就要用were了。

with是介词，表附属关系，
with his classmates在句中只是作状语，并不作主语

其实John with his classmates was kept 也就是John was kept busy ……with his classmates 这样的状语可以摆在后面，那么John是一个人罗
